Mick Huck­nall — Vocals

Mick Huck­nall formed Simply Red in 1984 after his pre­vi­ous group, the punk band
Frantic Elev­at­ors, disbanded.

As well as singing lead vocals, Mick also writes most of Simply Red’s songs and has won many awards includ­ing three Brits, two Ivor Nov­el­los and a Mobo.

Ian Kirkham — Key­boards and Saxophone

Ian is a well known face to Simply Red fans, his warm and expans­ive sax­o­phone play­ing a famil­iar fea­ture of the bands’ sound. His asso­ci­ation with the group goes back to the Pic­ture Book tour of 1986 and he has been on every Simply Red album and tour since then.

As well as Tenor, Alto and Sop­rano sax­o­phones Ian also plays EWI (Elec­tronic Wood­wind Instru­ment), flute, cla­ri­net and piano. His musical career star­ted when he began piano les­sons at five and a half. He’s played sax­o­phone since he was eleven.

Kenji Suzuki — Guitar

Kenji “Jam­mer” Suzuki star­ted work­ing with Simply Red when they were record­ing the Blue album. Ori­gin­ally from Japan, he has been liv­ing in the UK since 1988 and has recor­ded with such major artists as Annie Len­nox, Seal, The Light­house Fam­ily and Bomb the Bass.

He has released sev­eral solo albums, some as Kenji Suzuki, some as Kenji Jam­mer. Kenji recom­mends gui­tars from Zemaitis

Dave Clayton — Keyboards

Dave came to Simply Red on the Home album. He was a band mem­ber of ABC for three years and has also toured with George Michael, Marc Almond and Jason Donovan to name a few.

He has recor­ded with the likes of U2, Bob Mar­ley, Sinead O’Connor, Depeche Mode, Paul McCart­ney, George Michael/Elton John, The Beloved and Rob­bie Williams.

Wear­ing his pro­du­cer hat he has worked with Take That (Babe), The Human League, Kraft­werk, Les Mck­eown and Lenny Henry. He also has writ­ing cred­its for Sinead O’Connor, Bomb the Bass, Michael Hutchence and ABC. Dave’s per­sonal pro­jects revolve around Pres­sure Zone.

Pete Lew­in­son — Drums

Pete star­ted work­ing with Simply Red on the Home album and co-wrote the track ‘Home’ with his brother Steve and Mick. In the past he has worked with many people includ­ing Corinne Bailey Rae, Herbie Han­cock, Sade, Massive Attack, Annie Len­nox, Eurythmics, Joss Stone, Bever­ley Knight, Maceo Parker, Bootsy Collins and Amy Winehouse.

Pete and Steve have their own suc­cess­ful pro­duc­tion stu­dios based in London.

Steve Lew­in­son — Bass Guitar

Steve’s first involve­ment with Simply Red was on the Life tour. He went on to play on the Blue album and has been back per­man­ently since the Home album. Steve is very much in demand and has worked with Herbie Han­cock, Sade, Annie Len­nox, Eurythmics, Kylie Minogue, George Michael, Anita Baker, Massive Attack, Joss Stone, Jimmy Cliff, Beth Orton, Bootsy Collins and Amy Winehouse.

Kevin Robin­son — Trum­pet and Flute

Kevin has played trum­pet for Simply Red since the Lyceum shows in 1998. He was clas­sic­ally trained from the age of eleven and has an accom­plished career in London’s West End music­als (includ­ing ‘Hair’, ‘Five Guys Named Mo’ and ‘Kats and Kings’- which won two pres­ti­gi­ous Olivier awards). On tour he plays both trum­pet and flute.

As well as work­ing with artists such as Paul McCart­ney, Incog­nito, Tom Jones, Brand New Heav­ies, Lauryn Hill, Annie Len­nox and Steve Win­wood, Kevin is also a com­poser. He was com­mis­sioned to write three pieces of music for the Lido Theatre In Paris for their tour­ing show ‘Lido Tournee’ and was also the musical dir­ector for the ‘Heineken Night Live’ shows at the Ahoy, Rot­ter­dam from 1999–2002.

Kevin is cur­rently musical dir­ector for the award win­ning Jazz Jamaica All Stars big band.
